Inheritances

No one passed away but I inherited these awesome items with the purchase of our new home. The fridge is from 1950 and has never needed repair. Three of the benches were left and they fit perfectly under the built in desk area of the kitchen. The chair picture also gives you a nice view of my kitchen floor. It's original with the house from 1950 and I LOVE it. Of course we also inherited a few items we weren't so much interested in but these items make it so worth it.

Antique Chairs

I have this chair. It is supposedly from the 1940's, made by my Great Uncle. It was really tatterd, the fabric faded and stained and the wood worn. I took it into an upholster friend I know and picked out some sparkly new fabric (cream base with wine/red viney flowers) that is both contemporary but also fits the era of the chair. It is currently being reupholstered and the wood refinished with a dark walnut stain and I should have it back in 4-6 weeks. Can't wait to show you!

Bedroom Bedding

Along with bedroom furniture is bedroom bedding. I wanted something bold, becuase we aren't painting the walls (they are cream/khaki) and I also wanted it to be a bit contemporary, because I like to mix traditional and contemporary a lot. This is just a standard "bed in a bag" becuase its easy, fairly inexpensive and...flashy :) So, we purchased this set, becuase it was the only one out of the hundreds I looked at that I even remotely liked and I hope it grows on me more and more once it is in our house. BTW, it is goign on our brand spanking new KING bed :)

Bedroom Furniture

I REALLY want new bedroom furniture. It has been the "next" purchase on my list for some time. Like you, I know exactally what I want, and exactally where it is, except I am missing one key element. Money. Buying a house sucks up all your money so then you have to start that savings account over again until you can afford it. And the stuff we want isn't even that expensive. Here it is...

freaking awesome

I just found the greatest thing for making pleated curtains!! No sew triple pleat panels...I know breathe with me. They have a video showing how it works--actually three of them here. I've never tried these because it looked so hard but this, this is totally doable. Remember these? This is what she used. Awesome.

Itching

In a perfect world this would come live with me. But since we are trying to not spend unnecessary money and I can't see buying furniture specifically for a rental I will live with what we have now. I REALLY REALLY don't like our couch. Its from ikea and Eric's bachelor days. Its falling a part and the fabric is horrible for cat hair. Our couch, notice the metal bars on it:



I want to make a slipcover for it. I have 20 yards of green fabric from our wedding at my parents house. Do you think this is enough if I don't cover the back of the cushions with it? Do you think its possible with this type of couch? Will you piece together these curtains for me since I will undoubtedly not want to touch a sewing machine for a month after completing this project?

Apparently It's RUCHING not ROUCHING. A little googleing and found what you're looking for-actually it's the fourth search item down. And, to make life a little easier, you can use bias tape. All that ironing gets old fast. HERE
